Race distances
A 5K is 3.107 miles and a 10K is 6.214 miles. A half marathon is 13.109 miles (21.0975 km) and a marathon is 26.219 miles (42.195 km). The presets use the exact metric distances, so a result will differ by a few seconds from one worked out with 13.1 or 26.2 miles.
Pace versus speed
Runners talk in pace — minutes per mile — while treadmills show speed in miles per hour. To convert, divide 60 by one to get the other: 6 mph is a 10:00 mile, 7.5 mph is an 8:00 mile and 10 mph is a 6:00 mile.
Questions people ask
What pace is a 25-minute 5K?
8:03 per mile, or 5:00 per kilometer.
What pace do I need for a 30-minute 5K?
9:39 per mile, which is exactly 6:00 per kilometer, or about 6.2 mph on a treadmill.
How do I convert pace per km to pace per mile?
Multiply by 1.609. A 5:00 per km pace is 5 × 1.609 = 8.05 minutes, which is 8:03 per mile.
