Bricks per square foot
A US modular brick (7⅝ × 2¼ in face) with ⅜ in joints takes 6.86 bricks per square foot, usually rounded to 7. A standard brick (8 × 2¼ in) takes 6.55. Larger queen and king size bricks take fewer, around 4.5 to 5.5.
These counts are for a single wythe — one brick thick — as in a veneer or garden wall. A solid wall two bricks thick needs double.
Metric bricks
A UK brick is 215 × 65 mm on the face with 10 mm joints, which works out to 60 bricks per square meter for a single-skin wall. Switch the units to millimeters and enter those figures.
